Erin is a leading advocate in employment law. Her practice spans advisory work, advocacy in the Courts, independent investigations, and mediation across the full spectrum of employment law. This includes workplace fraud and investigations, disputes about status (employee/contractor issues), personal grievances (including for redundancy and misconduct), health and safety, discrimination, harassment, contractual disputes, compliance, and union matters.
Erin commenced practice as a barrister sole in July 2024. Prior to that, she was a senior partner at Meredith Connell for nearly 10 years, founding and leading its employment law team. She worked for Minter Ellison Rudd Watts as a Senior Associate until 2005 and was lead employment partner at Brookfields Lawyers until 2012. Erin has practised law in Australia and New Zealand.
Erin is also a qualified independent investigator, with a specialist focus in workplace, sport, and education. Erin is an Associate Member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ). She is also a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and has held the AWI-CH qualification since 2017. She was appointed to the panel as an expert mediator and investigator for Sport and Recreation Complaints and Mediation Service (SRCMS) in 2023. Erin is on the Board of Trustees for one of New Zealand’s largest boy’s schools. She is also a member of the New Zealand Bar Association Employment & Privacy Law Committee.
